KATHMANDU: SUNDAY, APRIL 4, 2021 – There are also indigenous peoples in the world who are associated with cannibalism and strange practices. These are South American Aborigines. They live in the jungles of northern Brazil and southern Venezuela. In particular, they live on the edge of the Amazon rainforest. These are called Yanomani Aborigines.

These aborigines are known for their incredible work and practices and their way of life. Walking around naked, spending the night under the open sky, they drink the ashes of their own dead after being cremated. They believe that by doing so, they can save the soul of their loved one. These tribals are spread in about 200 to 250 villages. If one of them dies naturally, they make soup and drink it. They must drink the ashes of their own children & mother if they died.

They do not believe in death at all. Instead, they think that a sorcerer from an opposition tribe has sent evil spirits to attack a person of their own accord. They think, so the person’s body should be cremated. They believe that the souls of their loved ones are revived by burning the dead body and drinking there’s ashes.

How do they make soup?

They leave the body of a dead relative in a nearby forest covered with leaves. After 30 or 45 days, the bones are removed from the body and burned. The ashes that come out after burning the bones are made into soup with formatted bananas. The soup mixed in this way is a must drink for everyone in the community.
