Preparing to perform surgery from Robot at KMC
KATHMANDU: SUNDAY, APRIL 4, 2021 – Kathmandu Medical College at Sinamangal in Kathmandu is going to start ‘Robotic Surgery’. KMC has stated that the preparations to start ‘robotic surgery’ by bringing state-of-the-art robot machine have reached the final stage.
KMC has purchased a machine for state-of-the-art Robotic Surgery at a cost of around Rs 100 million. Dr. Sunil Sharma, Chairman of KMC, informed that ‘Robotic Surgery’ will be started within a month and a half. ‘For the first time in Nepal, we are starting Robotic Surgery,’ said Dr. Sharma , ‘The machine has already been purchased from the US. Now, after reconciling the technical aspects, we are using the Robot for surgery for the first time in Nepal within a month and a half. ‘
KMC has stated that it is preparing to use Robot in neuro-related surgery for state-of-the-art and reliable treatment. After that, KMC plans to use Robot in other surgeries as well. In Robotic Surgery, the operation is performed with the help of a robot in the operation plan made by the doctor.
KMC’s senior neurosurgeon P.D., who is very comfortable to perform the surgery with the help of Robot in microscopic and complex surgeries. Amit Thapa said. “It is not Robot who will do all the operations, the surgeon has planned and operated with the help of Robot. The surgeon’s hand may tremble in a microscopic operation performed on a small incision, in which case it would be easier for the surgeon to do the fixed work with the help of a rooftop, ‘said Dr Thapa. Yes. Due to which the best result of the operation is obtained. ‘
According to doctors, no Robotic Surgery has been started in any hospital in Nepal so far. KMC claims that this surgery, which is considered to be sophisticated and reliable, is being started for the first time in Nepal. Dr. Sunil Sharma, the director of the prestigious Nobel Teaching Hospital in the East, has been the Chairman of KMC since last August. Dr. Sharma’s entry, with KMC has been raising the standard of treatment.
