The government made fun of it by closing schools: Dr. Bidya Nath Koirala
KATHMANDU: MARCH 30 – Protests have started against the government’s decision to close schools across the country citing air pollution as the cause. The Ministry of Education on Saturday decided to close educational institutions across the country citing air pollution.
Educationist Dr Bidya Nath Koirala said, “The government has closed schools for this reason. That is his wrongdoing. According to Koirala, air pollution is not a problem all over the country. This is the problem of Kathmandu Valley.
The closure of schools across the country due to problems in the Kathmandu Valley is an example of government inaction. Koirala said that it would have been better if the government had taken the decision only considering the Kathmandu Valley and the places with high environmental pollution.
According to educationist Koirala, various local bodies and civic representatives are protesting against the government’s decision to close schools across the country for four days. Some have even called the central government’s decision an interference in the rights of local governments. The Bhimad Municipality of Tanahun has issued a statement on Saturday urging the government to run the school regularly as it has not seen any environmental problems.
According to Koirala, it was a mistake to close the school now. It would have been better if the teachers had been able to prepare for the Class VIII examination in four days and focus on learning. ‘During this period, the teacher could have prepared well. Students could be taught online. However, there are rumours that the closure will affect the upcoming exams, ‘he said.
