YANGON: WEDNESDAY, MARCH 25, 2021 – More than 600 protesters have been released from Insein prison in Myanmar.

A senior prison official said more than 600 protesters had been released after the army detained key NLD leaders and staged a military coup.

“We have released 360 men and 268 women from Insein prison today,” a senior prison official said on condition of anonymity.

At least 275 people have been killed in protests in Myanmar since the start of the military coup. However, a spokesman for the junta government said 164 people had been killed. More than 2,800 people were arrested during the protests, according to international news agencies.
