DHAKA: WEDNESDAY, MARCH 24, 2021 – A Bangladeshi court has sentenced 14 Islamic extremist fighters to death for plotting to assassinate Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. They attempted to assassinate Prime Minister Hasina in 2000.

They carried out the bombing in protest of Hasina’s secular policy. Judge Abu Zafar MD Kamruzzaman of Dhaka’s Speedy Trial Tribunal-1 said that all the four were found guilty of sedition and criminal activities.

He said nine of them were produced in court from jail. The judge said the 14 were fighters from the Harkat-ul-Jihad al-Islami organization.
