India’s victory over England

KATHMANDU: WEDNESDAY, MARCH 24, 2021 – India have won the first match of the one-day international cricket series against England. India beat England by 66 runs in Tuesday’s match.

Home team India easily defeated world champion England. Batting first after losing the toss, India scored 317 runs for the loss of five wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Shikhar Dhawan batted brilliantly in India’s high run. He hit 11 fours and two sixes in 106 balls and scored 98 runs. Similarly, KL Rahul scored an unbeaten 62 while Krunal Pandya contributed an unbeaten 58 and captain Virat Kohli contributed 56 runs.

On the bowling side, England’s Ben Stokes took three wickets and Mark Wood two.

Chasing a high target of 318 runs, England managed to score only 251 runs for the loss of all wickets in 42.1 overs. England’s Johnny Bairstow (94), Jason Roy (46), Moeen Ali (30) and skipper Eoin Morgan (22) could not save the team from defeat.

On the bowling side, India’s famous Krishna took four wickets. This is his debut in ODI cricket. Shardul Thakur took three wickets and Bhuvneshwar Kumar two.
