3400 benefited from KMC’s health camp

KATHMANDU: A total of 3,402 patients have received free treatment from a free health camp run by Kathmandu Medical College at Sinamangal in Kathmandu. In collaboration with Suryagadhi Village Municipality, KMC has conducted a three-day free health camp in Suryagadhi Village Municipality-3.

KMC General Manager Narayan Dahal informed that lab tests of 701 people, video X-ray of 595 people and ECG of 494 people were done in the camp from Thursday to Saturday. Specialist doctors in the camp have treated patients with problems including medicine, gynecology, pediatrics, nose, ear, throat, eyes, teeth, joints and nerves, skin and mental illness. General operations have also been performed on 38 patients in the camp.

Similarly, patients who have not undergone surgery in the camp and need to undergo complex surgery have been referred to the hospital. Dr. Sunil Sharma, president of Kathmandu Medical College, informed that the critically ill patients coming from the camp will be operated on at the hospital with 50 percent discount.

After Dr. Sharma assumed the responsibility of KMC chairman, the hospital has been continuing to run free health camps in different districts recently. Dr. Sharma says that health camps will be continued for free treatment of poor and vulnerable patients.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony of the camp, Nepali Congress leader Dr. Ram Sharan Mahat praised the service spirit of Kathmandu Medical College President Dr. Sharma. Saying that a team of doctors has been sent to Nuwakot to provide free treatment to the patients, Mahat praised Dr. Sharma.

Social worker Dr. Sharma, who is also the director of Nobel Hospital in Biratnagar, has been running free health camps in Eastern Nepal for many years. Dr. Sharma has saved the lives of thousands of poor and vulnerable patients by providing free treatment.
