March to save the environment (photo feature)

KATHMANDU: Demonstration has taken place in Kathmandu demanding cancellation of Nijgadh International Airport project. Youths staged a protest in Baneshwor, Kathmandu on Friday demanding cancellation of the airport.

The youths have taken to the streets with leaflets and pamphlets with various slogans and marched from Everest Hotel in Baneshwor to the Forest Office at Babar Mahal. The protesters chanted slogans such as ‘Whose wealth is the green forest?’ And ‘Save Nijgadh’.

Notable youths participated in the demonstration jointly organized by Harin Nepal and PowerSoft Nepal. The airport has been controversial since the beginning. The Civil Aviation Authority had sent a proposal to the Ministry of Tourism last Magh for the government to build the airport itself.
