A meeting of the JSP executive committee is being held to discuss the formation of a new government
KATHMANDU: A meeting of the executive committee of Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) Nepal is scheduled to be held. The meeting will start at 11:30 am, JSP leader Keshav Jha informed Makalu Khabar.
Leader Jha said that the current political situation in the country will be discussed in the meeting. “Discussions will be held on party integration, parliamentary party leaders and other issues,” Jha said. “We will discuss the current political situation together.”
The country is currently in the process of forming a new government. JSP is also at the center of it. Today’s meeting is expected to draw conclusions on who will support the formation of the new government.
Within the party, opinions are divided on whether to support the KP Sharma Oli-led government or try to form a new government. Leaders including Chairman Mahanta Thakur are in favor of supporting those who fulfill their demands, while leaders including Upendra Yadav are in favor of calling Oli a ‘regressor’ and not supporting the current government under any circumstances.
It is understood that today’s meeting will focus on resolving the same dispute. Jaspa has called the meeting several times before. But, it has ended without any conclusion.
