Corona vaccination program postponed in Thailand
KATHMANDU: Thailand has said it will delay the vaccination of AstraZeneca for fear of “unproven blood clotting problems”. The Thai prime minister was scheduled to inaugurate the vaccine distribution on Friday, but it has been postponed.
Some countries, including Denmark and Norway, have postponed vaccinations. The vaccine given in Nepal is also AstraZeneca vaccine. So far, more than 5 million Europeans have been vaccinated. Thirty of them had blood clots.
But the European Union’s drug regulatory body said there was no indication that the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine increased the risk of blood clots in humans. “The risk of such a threat is the same for people who have been vaccinated and those who have not,” he said.
“There is no indication that these problems are due to vaccination. These are not listed as side effects of the vaccine, ‘the European Medicines Agency (EMA) said on Thursday. –BBC
