Two and a half lakh visitors visited Pashupatinath
KATHMANDU: Devotees have flocked to Shivalayas across the country including Pashupatinath on the occasion of Mahashivaratri. Despite the risk of corona, the devotees have gone to the Shivalaya for darshan and worship by adopting health safety measures including masks.
About two and a half lakh visitors have visited the Pashupatinath temple till 11:30 am. Dr. Ghanshyam Khatiwada, Executive Director of Pashupati Area Development Fund, informed that the Pashupati Nath Temple has been managed so that one can return within an hour. In the morning, you could return in half an hour.
As the crowd of devotees started increasing after 10 am, it will be possible to return after visiting in one hour. It is estimated that around eight lakh devotees will visit Pashupatinath temple by evening. The temple will remain open until visitors arrive tonight.
Crowds of devotees in Nageshwar too: Similarly, arrangements have been made for the devotees to visit the Nageshwar Mahadev Temple at Pepsicola Town Planning at Kathmandu Metropolitan City-32 by opening four doors from 3 am today. More than 5,000 devotees have visited the temple since this morning, said Prakash Jung Rajyamajhi, chairman of the temple management committee.
After 10 o’clock in the morning, many devotees are waiting in line at the Nageshwar Mahadev Temple. Sardar Waxing Temple was established in 1881 BS. On the occasion of Mahashivaratri, four puhar pujas are performed in Nageshwar Mahadev temple along with special puja. He said that the name Nageshwar was due to the fact that the snakes believed and worshiped.
Worship of child instruments in Gokarneshwar: Similarly, devotees have been flocking to the Gokarneshwar Mahadev Temple since morning. Devotees who understand the importance of both instruments after visiting Pashupatinath have also gone to Gokarneshwar Mahadev Temple for darshan. Devotees have been flocking to the Shivalayas in various places including Doleshwar in the valley since morning. Mahashivaratri festival is celebrated every year on the day of Phagun Krishna Chaturdashi.
Free Gurjo distribution: Devotees visiting Pashupatinath on the occasion of Mahashivaratri have been given free Gurjo tea under the leadership of Kamal Bahadur Rajalwat, Chief of Inland Revenue Office, Dhulikhel. He said that the devotees were also informed about the importance of Gurjo and dust and tea bags were distributed free of cost.
