Devotees have been flocking to Shivalayas across the country since this morning. Shiva devotees stay awake all night and enjoy heating fire, consuming marijuana, cannabis and dhaturo. Cannabis, hemp and dhaturo are also considered as offerings to Shiva.
Although nowhere in the scriptures is it mentioned that one should eat marijuana, cannabis and dhaturo on the day of Shivaratri, astrologers and pundits say that these things have come only as legends.
Open use of marijuana is banned in Nepal, it is considered as an addiction. Despite the medicinal properties of marijuana, its prohibitive use has an impact on human health. The persuader Dr. Regmi explains.

It can be consumed only after it is researched and proven to be edible and beneficial, only as a medicine.
Even in international countries where the ban on cannabis has been lifted, cannabis has been released only as a medicine. Local consumption is restricted in many places. ‘Found on the way, eat, that’s not it. Even if it is opened in Nepal, it will be opened as medicine, not as food. Taking it in stride is harmful, ”he said.
In rural areas, hemp nuts are also used as pickles. It is also used in medicine. Earlier, the hospital used to mix it with other medicines to get rid of various diseases, but now it is banned. Various scientific facts about Daturo are coming, it has not been fully researched. It has also been labeled as a drug, not suitable for eating. Regmi explained.
He said that research abroad has shown that cannabis use increases mental illness. “Based on research done abroad, long-term use of marijuana has been found to cause depression and mental illness in people,” he says, ‘There have been cases of its users being involved in various criminal activities. That is why it has been banned. Marijuana is depressive in nature. Excessive consumption of it can lead to mental retardation and depression. There is also the problem of being restless, angry, irritable and unable to concentrate. ‘

There has been no research on the effects of marijuana in Nepal, nor has there been any scientific research and testing on its medicinal properties.
