Kathmandu View Tower contractor Bhetwal arrested in fraud case
Kathmandu. Police team of the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority has arrested six people, including Manoj Bhetwal. Commission spokesperson Narayan Prasad Rimal said that a case was filed in the court after they were arrested from the commission premises.
He was summoned to the authorities along with Bhetwal for statements in four cases including non-payment of Rs 5 million loan from the Royal Merchant Banking and Finance Company and corruption.
There were 11 complaints against him. The government also had a share in the Royal Merchant, which was involved in a scam of more than one billion rupees by disbursing loans on low security. It has merged with Royal Merchant, various banks and financial institutions and merged with NCC Bank.
The authority had issued notice to the person involved in the banking fraud scandal almost nine years ago to appear before the authority two months ago. The Revenue Investigation Department had also filed a case against Bhetwal and four others.
