5 companies selected for satellite installation consultancy
Kathmandu. Nepal has been shortlisted by five international companies for the necessary consultations to keep its own satellite. Letters of intent were sought from companies interested in providing consultancy services for the operation of the satellite and its operation and security policy formulation, trade modalities, operational modalities.
Out of the nine companies participating in the international bidding, five companies have been shortlisted.
The selected companies include French company Euro Consult, British company Economics Limited and a joint venture of KISPE team, American company Space Partnership International, Dubai’s Esther Tel Inc. and India’s KPMG Assurance and Consulting Service, according to the Nepal Telecommunications Authority.
According to Nepal’s Earth Satellite Policy 2077, Nepal aims to provide services by setting up its own satellite by 2022. The government has also started the process of installing a new satellite to meet the target set by the policy.
Twenty companies from different countries had submitted proposals for the letter of intent demanded by NEA in September 2073 BS. However, NEA has invited new bids for the installation of satellite technology as new technology has come so far.
The installation of the satellite was estimated to cost more than Rs 30 billion at that time.
