111th International Women’s Day is being celebrated
Kathmandu. Today, International Women’s Day is being celebrated by organizing various programs. International Women’s Day is celebrated on March 8 every year.
International Women’s Day is commemorated around the world on March 8, 1911, the day Clara Zetkin, the pioneer of the women’s liberation movement, raised her voice against the exploitation of women workers. This day is also celebrated in Nepal with various programs on the occasion of Women’s Day.
Today, various organizations working in the field of women’s rights have organized rallies, seminars and interaction programs. The Constitution of Nepal has made important provisions to guarantee gender equality. This has greatly helped in eliminating violence and discrimination against women.
Clara Zetkin proposed March 8 as International Working Women’s Day at the Second International Conference on Women held in Copenhagen in 1910. Which was passed by the conference and Women’s Day has been celebrated since 1911.
