Corona’s additional 3.5 million dose vaccine arrives today

Kathmandu. About 3.5 million doses of Corona vaccine received by Nepal under Covax is expected to arrive in Kathmandu. According to Health Secretary at the Ministry of Health and Population Laxman Aryal, 348,000 doses of the vaccine are about to arrive in Nepal.

This vaccine is subsidized by Nepal. The government is preparing to bring 13 million vaccines through the Covax plant. Only Burma, Sri Lanka and Nepal will be vaccinated through Covax in the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation.

Secretary Aryal said that the vaccine purchased from the Serum Institute Company of India will also arrive within a week. He said that the vaccination will be given to senior citizens above 15 years of age in 15 Himalayan districts and over 65 years of age in other districts starting today. He said that 200,000 vaccines will be provided every day from about 6,000 vaccination centers.

He also said that preparations have been made to vaccinate senior citizens above 55 years of age by 15th of Ashad. Earlier, 429,000 people were vaccinated under the first phase of the vaccination campaign. The first phase was conducted from Magh 14 to Falgun 10.
