Contact person to prevent sexual violence in all schools in Itahari

Biratnagar. The sub-metropolis has arranged gender contact persons in all community schools. The sub-metropolis has stated that gender contact persons have been provided in all community schools to make the gender based violence reduction campaign more effective.

One of the teachers in the school has been assigned a sexual contact person. Laxmi Gautam, deputy mayor of Itahari, said that all 36 community schools in Itahari have gender contact persons.

According to Gautam, the liaison person will play a role in bringing the incidents of gender-based violence related to the school and the surrounding community to justice. The contact person will conduct awareness classes in the school on the measures to be taken to avoid violence and the precautions to be taken in case of violence.

The sub-metropolis has also provided orientation for designated gender contact persons in community schools.

Now, there is a plan to conduct orientation program among the gender contact persons and students of each school, said Deputy Chief Gautam.
