40 percent progress of Arun-3 hydropower project, construction will be completed a year and a half ago
Kathmandu. At the initiative of the Board of Investment, a team of high-ranking officials of the Government of Nepal inspected the Arun 3 Hydropower Project in Sankhuwasabha district, which is under construction, said Board.
The developer company has stated that about 40 percent of the construction work of the 900 MW capacity project being constructed by Sutlej Hydropower Corporation of India in public-private partnership has been completed. The project development company has also informed the team that the project will be completed about a year and a half ahead of schedule.
According to Board, during the inspection, the team has also discussed the problems seen in the implementation of the project with the local stakeholders. The team has observed the construction site of the project dam of Faksinda Dobhan in Makalu village municipality of Sankhuwasabha and the power house of Diding in Chichila village municipality.
The team also held discussions with officials of the project development company and local people’s representatives, local administration and other stakeholders including the chairpersons of Chichila and Makalu villages.
The team included Home Secretary Maheshwar Neupane, Defense Secretary Reshmiraj Pandey, Foreign Secretary Bharatraj Poudyal, Energy Secretary Dinesh Ghimire, Chief Executive Officer of the Investment Board Office Sushil Bhatta, Deputy Secretary of the Board Office Ramesh Adhikari and Senior Divisional Engineer of the Board Office Sagar Raj Gautam.
