Kathmandu. At least 38 protesters have been killed in protests against Myanmar’s military rule.

At least 38 people, including a 14-year-old boy, were killed in a protest rally on Wednesday against the capture of a leader, including Aung San Suu Kyi, on February 1, according to international media. Witnesses said security forces fired rubber and live bullets at the protesters.

On February 1, the army seized control of the country, including Aung San Suu Kyi. Citizens have been protesting daily against the military ruler, demanding Aung San Suu Kyi’s release. The general public, professionals and monks are also participating in the demonstration.

At least 50 people have been killed in Myanmar so far, according to the United Nations.

A tense situation has arisen in Myanmar since February 1, when the army seized power and detained leader Aung San Suu Kyi. After ten years of democracy in Myanmar, the military has regained power.

The violence has added to international pressure on Myanmar. The United Kingdom has called for a UN Security Council meeting on Friday. Security forces have also arrested journalists and members of civil society in different parts of the country.
