Deafness in one out of every four people by 2050!
Agency. Today is March 3, World Hearing Day. The World Health Organization (WHO) has released a report on deafness in this regard. The report, released Wednesday, states that by 2050, a quarter of the world’s population will be deaf.
According to the WHO, by 2050, 2.5 billion people will have some form of hearing loss or deafness. If no concrete steps are taken in this regard, about 700 people will have deafness problems and those people will need some kind of treatment.
In its first ever report on deafness, the WHO said: ‘Our hearing is impaired. If left untreated, deafness can have a profound effect on a person’s ability to communicate, study and work. ‘
WHO Director General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesuss said it could also have a negative effect on mental health and relationships. The report will look at the recent effects of deafness as well as provide evidence-based solutions that could help countries around the world improve their living standards through their health systems.
