Abuja. A gunman has attacked a village in the northern Nigerian state of Kaduna, killing seven villagers.

Kaduna State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs Samuel Aruwan said gunmen had attacked and killed Kajuru and Igabi villages in Kaduna.

Aruwan said the injured were being treated at a local hospital and local security forces were investigating the incident.

Murder, looting, kidnapping and other criminal offenses have been rampant in northern Nigeria for years. Despite the government’s deployment of large numbers of troops to prevent such incidents in northern Nigerian villages, criminal activity continues unabated.
