The post of two Deputy Governors of NRB is vacant
Kathmandu. The post of two deputy governors of Nepal Rastra Bank has become vacant from Tuesday. Chintamani Shiwakoti and Shivaraj Shrestha, who are deputy governors, have retired after completing their five-year tenure.
Out of the 17 executive directors working in the NRB, two will have to be re-appointed as the Deputy Governor of the NRB. While there are many aspirants for deputy governor, many in the banking sector have expressed apprehension about filling the post by selecting suitable candidates independently.
According to the NRB Act, in order to fill the post of two Deputy Governors out of the Executive Directors, the Governor has to send the names of 4 people including 2/2 to the Ministry of Finance. There is a provision that the finance minister has to bring the amendment in the cabinet meeting as a proposal. The Act provides for the appointment of two suitable persons to the post of two Deputy Governors.
