Kathmandu. Construction of Nepal’s largest ‘China-Nepal Friendly Industrial Park’ has started. Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli laid the foundation stone of the industrial park on Sunday. The industrial park is being constructed with Chinese investment.

The park will be built on the integrated land of Damak and surrounding Gauradaha Municipality and Kamal Village of Jhapa. It is also the constituency of Prime Minister Oli. Chairman of the China-Nepal Friendship Industrial Park Govinda Thapa informed that the industrial park will be spread over an area of ​​1,300 bighas. According to him, the Investment Board had given approval to bring in Rs 65 arab Chinese investment to build the park’s infrastructure.

Chinese company Lhasa Economic and Technology Development Zone will be built by Jingping Joint Construction Company Limited. The entire cost of constructing the park will be borne by China. It is said that the industrial park will be completed within two years. The government is going to build the park by acquiring private land. The locals have to pay Rs 1 arab 36 crore as compensation for the land acquisition and Rs 950 crore has been distributed so far.

The operation of the park will provide direct employment to 45,000 Nepalis and 26 factories including agriculture, textile, mobile and electrical will be established in the park. The government has leased the industrial park for 40 years. Chairman Thapa has informed that the aim is to export the goods produced from there.

Earlier, a memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed between the board and Lhasa Economic to build an industrial park. The park is named ‘China-Nepal Friendship Industrial Park’.
