Kathmandu. Minister for Health and Population Hridayesh Tripathi has said that Nepal has entered an important phase in the fight against COVID-19 with the preparation of the first phase vaccination of the second priority group.

Speaking at a discussion program organized by the Ministry with the Editor-in-Chief of Media and Media Personnel today, Minister Tripathi said that it was a special achievement to vaccinate the first priority group in Nepal and enter the second priority group in 101 countries of the world.

He said that the vaccination campaign was being carried out at a lower cost than expected and that there would be no irregularities in the process.

The government had conducted the first phase of the first priority group from Magh 14 to 24, including health workers deployed at the forefront against the epidemic. The first phase of the second priority vaccination campaign for all people above the age of 55 will start on Falgun 23. The government is ready to provide vaccination to 20 percent of the total population in the first and second priority groups.

“Through political and diplomatic efforts, we have been able to bring in vaccines quickly,” he said. For this, we have made it available by removing the obstacles of the Public Procurement Act. As it is produced by a limited number of companies in a limited number of countries, it is not possible to compete in the procurement of some consignments. Please do not make any confusing or negative comments in this regard. We will not do anything against the law. ‘

Secretary at the Ministry Laxman Aryal said that the federal government is responsible for the availability of vaccines and the local government is responsible for the distribution and management of the vaccine. Rasas
