Dr. Shankar Upreti has passed away


Kathmandu. Very old doctor of Jhapa Dr. Shankar Upreti has passed away. Family members have informed that he passed away in Kathmandu on Saturday night.
Upreti is the father of Sanjeev Upreti, an activist of the civil movement. Very popular in Eastern Nepal, he was a social worker who provided free treatment to the poor and helpless. And he was a gift to the common people.
He had provided medical services to the general public for about 50 years at a private residence near Shanishchare Bazaar in Jhapa. Moreover, women had full confidence in Upreti. Many pregnant women used to flock to the place because of the belief that they would not die of labor pains.
Dr. Upreti used to charge a fee for those who had it but treated those who did not have it for free. Upreti did MBBS in 2018 BS. His book ‘Jeevan Ek Sapana’ has been published.
