Machhapuchhre Bank launches QR code service at 3 places in Pokhara
Pokhara. Machhapuchhre Bank has launched QR code service at Hong Kong Bazaar, Pokhara Taxi Service Pvt. Ltd. and Shree Complex at Siddhartha Chowk in Pokhara from Friday. Machhapuchhre Bank has launched one-time QR code payment service in three places of Pokhara in a bid to expand its service to every part of the country by becoming aggressive in digital banking.
After the service comes into operation, consumers who go to Hong Kong Bazaar and Shree Complex to buy vegetables, fruits and other cosmetic items will be able to buy vegetables using the mobile banking application. Similarly, taxi drivers operating under Pokhareli Taxi Entrepreneur will be able to pay taxi fare using QR code instead of cash. Speaking on the occasion, Pushkar Surkhali, Chief Director of Nepal Rastra Bank, said that the present age is the digital age and urged the consumers to do all their transactions through digital payment from today.
The use of QR codes is on the rise as the cash alternative is more humane and easy to use. Along with the QR code service launched in Pokhara, the number of business places or establishments with QR code available in Machhapuchhre Bank has reached around 9,000, the bank said.
The service was jointly launched by Director of Nepal Rastra Bank Puskar Surkhali and Director of Machhapuchhre Bank Roshan KC at a function at Hong Kong Bazaar in Pokhara’s New Bazaar on Friday. Director of Machhapuchhre Bank Bishwa Prakash Gautam and Srijana Karki were present on the occasion.
Similarly, representatives of Nepal Rastra Bank, representatives of Agricultural Market Management Committee, businessmen affiliated to Pokhareli Taxi Service and local traders were present.
