102-year-old poet Ferlinghetti passed away

Agency. American poet Lawrence Ferlinghetti has died. Poet, painter and social activist Ferlinghetti has died in San Francisco, USA. He was 102 years old.

The City Lights book seller and publisher which he has operated introduced him to the world.

His collection of poems, ‘A Connie Island of the Mind’ , has been published in nine languages. The book sold more than a million copies.

His 100th birthday was celebrated in San Francisco as Lawrence Ferlinghetti Day.
