Security agencies on high alert
Kathmandu. Following the Supreme Court’s decision to re-establish the House of Representatives, Nepal Police has adopted high vigilance in the security arrangements across the country. Spokesperson of Nepal Police Basanta Bahadur Kunwar informed that high vigilance has been adopted considering the possible incidents.
Kunwar said that the required number of security personnel has been increased in the areas where crowds and processions can take place and the police has paid special attention to maintain peace and security. “In the current situation, the security situation is normal, high vigilance has been adopted keeping in mind that anything can happen,” he said, adding that “surveillance in sensitive areas has also been stepped up.”
The Nepal Police and the Armed Police Force (APF) had earlier made necessary preparations keeping in view the situation where the decision of the Supreme Court may come. Sources said that the security forces have prepared separate security plans for the reconstitution of the parliament and for its absence. Police said that security arrangements have been made in a coordinated manner as soon as the verdict was announced today.
