Kathmandu. The state assembly meeting of state 1 is being held. Speaker Pradip Kumar Bhandari has called a meeting for 2 pm.

There is no ‘business’ in the meeting except the no-confidence motion registered by the Prachanda-Nepal group of the CPN (Maoist). The no-confidence motion could not be tabled in the assembly as the ruling party blocked the meeting. Earlier, the no-confidence motion was tabled at the meeting on Magh 25.

However, Speaker Bhandari had adjourned the meeting till today after the ruling CPN-Oli group obstructed the meeting. It is understood that the Oli group has a strategy of obstructing today’s meeting and not allowing the no-confidence motion to be tabled. Buddhi Kumar Rajbhandari, chief whip of the Oli group, reiterated that he would not allow the state assembly meeting to take place until the party formally splits.

While the Oli group said it would block the meeting, the Prachanda-Nepal group said a no-confidence motion should be tabled at the meeting. Indra Bahadur Angbo, a member of the group’s state assembly, said that it would be appropriate to finalize the no-confidence motion immediately. He has accused the ruling party of playing the game of prolonging the meeting of the state assembly since the no-confidence motion was registered.
