Covishield vaccine will arrive in Nepal within two weeks
Kathmandu. The government has initiated the process for the purchase of 2 million doses from India. Health Minister Hridayesh Tripathi said that the vaccine will be delivered to Nepal within two weeks.
Minister Tripathi mentioned that the advance amount has been paid to the Serum Institute of India for the purchase of the vaccine.
The Ministry of Health is about to procure 2 million doses of Covishield vaccine produced by Serum. A cabinet meeting held on Tuesday decided to buy 2 million doses of serum from the Serum Institute at the rate of $4 per vaccine. Accordingly, the value of 2 million doses will be 92.87 million more.
Nepal has also allowed emergency use of the Covid vaccine produced by a Chinese company.
The SARS-COV-2 vaccine (Vero Cell), a vaccine produced by the Beijing Institute of Biological Products Company Limited under Sinopharm, has been approved for emergency use by the Department of Pharmacology. China has also stated that it will provide 500,000 vaccine to Nepal free of cost in the first phase.
