Vaccination for those above 60 years of age from Falgun 23
Kathmandu. The government is going to vaccinate the senior citizens against Covid-19 from Falgun 23. A meeting of the Incident Command System held at the Ministry of Health and Population has decided to vaccinate citizens aged 60 years and above from Falgun 23.
The Covishield vaccine against Covid-19, provided by the Government of India, has been given from Magh 14. In the first phase, the health workers, security personnel working in the front line, drivers and co-drivers of ambulances and hearses, and women health volunteers were vaccinated from Magh 14 to 24.
The people in the second priority have started vaccinating district level government office employees, bank employees, journalists and local level employees from Falgun 2. Earlier, officials, staff and journalists of diplomatic missions in Kathmandu were also vaccinated from Magh 26 to 30.
So far, 263,482 people have been vaccinated, said Dr. Jageshwor Gautam, spokesperson of the Ministry of Health. He said that 84 percent of those who were given priority in the first phase were vaccinated.
72 percent in State No. 1, 84 percent in State No. 2 and Bagmati State, 100 percent in Gandaki State, 84 percent in Lumbini State, 72 percent in Karnali State and 91 percent in Far Western State have been vaccinated in the first phase.
