Increased doctor’s OPD fee, patients have to pay 370 to 825

Kathmandu. The hospital’s outpatient (OPD) fee has been increased from today. A joint meeting of the Nepal Medical Association and the Association of Private Health Institutions Nepal (AFIN) on Tuesday decided to increase the doctor’s consultation fee with effect from Tuesday.

According to the decision, patients will now have to pay Rs 370 to Rs 825 once they consult a doctor, according to a statement issued by the Nepal Medical Association and AFIN. The association has stated that the tariff has been increased on the basis of the agreement reached with the Ministry of Health and Population on Magh 4 and the recommendation of the Inflation and Tariff Advisory Committee of Nepal Rastra Bank.

According to the new fee, MBBS and BDS doctors with less than 5 years experience will get Rs 370, those above 5 years will get Rs 450 OPD fee while doctors with DMA and MCH will get Rs 770 for less than 5 years experience and Rs 825 for more than 5 years experience.

A similar meeting has also decided to maintain the minimum salary of a medical officer working in a private hospital at Rs 42,000. Also, all the doctors, health institutions and hospitals have been requested to implement the decision through a press release.
