Amicus curiae debate from today, then decision
Kathmandu. The amicus curiae debate on the writ against the dissolution of the House of Representatives is starting. As soon as the reply debate on behalf of the writ petitioner ended on Monday, five advocates affiliated to Amicus Curiae will start debating from today.
Badri Bahadur Karki, Bijay Kant Mainali and Satish Krishna Kharel from Nepal Bar and Purnaman Shakya and Geeta Pathak Sangraula from Supreme Court Bar Association are in the amicus curiae. They will give independent opinion to the court on the issue with the objective of assisting in the administration of justice. The lawyer estimates that the verdict will come in a week after the Amicus Curiae’s opinion.
Prime Minister KP Oli had dissolved the parliament on Poush 5. The Supreme Court has been hearing the writ petition for about a month and a half saying that the move is unconstitutional.
