‘Pokhara and Bhairahawa airports could have come into operation
Kathmandu. Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said that the airports in Pokhara and Bhairahawa could not come into operation due to the Covid-19 epidemic. He claims that without the Corona epidemic, both airports would be operational.
He made the claim at a program organized in Singha Durbar on the occasion of the third anniversary of the formation of the government.
He claims that the construction of Bhairahawa airport is 98.8 percent complete. The construction of the airport, which is scheduled to be operational from March 2020, has not been completed yet.
Similarly, he claims that the construction of Pokhara Regional Airport is 70 percent complete. Preparations have not been made for the operation of the airport, which can be done in the midst of the Corona epidemic.
During his address, he mentioned that the number of airports operating in 12 months out of 53 airports in Nepal has increased from 29 to 36 in three years. Of these, the number of night airports has reached eight. He said that Biratnagar and Surkhet airports are being expanded in coordination with the state and local levels.
The Prime Minister has mentioned that a system of landing and landing via satellite has been set up at Dhangadhi, Kathmandu, Janakpur, Biratnagar and Bhadrapur airports even in adverse weather.
