Soil mapping in Nepal
Kathmandu. Nepali farmers can now easily get information about the fertility of their farms, acidity, organic matter and soil texture.
According to the report submitted to the Prime Minister on Sunday, the National Soil Science Research Center under the Nepal Agricultural Research Council is going to make public the soil mapping. They can easily get information like how much fertilizer to use.
This mapping has been prepared by testing a total of 23,273 soil samples from all over the country.
The mapping work will provide complete information about soil not only to farmers but also to policy makers, researchers, agricultural technicians, private sector service providers, fertilizer importers.
What improvements can be made in the soil to increase crop production and productivity? What kind of manure should be supplied in which place, acidity for soil improvement, how to balance the quantity of organic matter and micronutrients? It will be easier to make such decisions.
