The retirement age for employees is 60 years
Kathmandu. The government of Province No. 2 has fixed the mandatory retirement age of civil servants in the province at 60 years.
The Provincial Civil Service Act, 2077 BS, which was ratified by the provincial chief Tilak Pariyar on Wednesday, provides for mandatory retirement from the civil service after completion of 60 years.
When calculating the age of a state civil servant for compulsory leave or other purposes as per this enactment, from the date of birth or year of birth in the certificate of educational institution submitted by own or from the date of birth or year of birth in own certificate of citizenship or from the date of birth or year of birth. It is mentioned that the age before retirement is calculated on the same basis.
Similarly, provision has been made for the state civil servants who have attained retirement age and age limit of fifty-three years to take voluntary leave within the period specified in the information published in the state gazette by the state government. Under the Act, it is mentioned that there will be officers from the twelfth level to the assistant third level in the civil service of Province No. 2.
Financial, planning and statistics services, engineering services, legal services, agricultural services, administration services, forest services, miscellaneous services, education services and health services have been formed in the state civil service. According to Chief Justice Dipendra Jha, this state civil service act, which is a cornerstone in the implementation of federalism, has paved the way for making the state autonomous and empowered.
Stating that the Act has many progressive provisions including increasing the scope of open and inter-service competition, ensuring proportionality and inclusion on the basis of population, he said, “The State Civil Service Act will guide the other six states and the Federal Civil Service Act.”
