Trump expelled from American Artists Association
Former United States President Donald Trump has walked out of the Artists’ Union, saying he would never become a member. The US Screen Actors Guild, Federation of Television and Radio Artists, an organization of American film, television and radio artists, has decided to accept Trump’s resignation so that he will never be a member again.
Accepting Trump’s resignation in a video conference on Saturday, Xinhua said the union had decided not to allow him to become a member for life. Citing the union’s statement, Xinhua wrote, “It has been decided to ban him forever because of the treatment he gave to union members and journalists while he was in power.” He acted against the spirit and letter of the union. “The decision to bar Donald Trump from becoming a member forever is symbolic,” said Gabriella Cartridge, president of the association.
Trump has been a member of the union since 1989. The association has 160,000 artists and journalists working in film, television and radio. A meeting of the union’s board last month passed a resolution calling for an explanation before the disciplinary committee.
