Commissioner Bhandari gets the responsibility of resolving the CPN (Maoist) dispute
Kathmandu. The Election Commission (EC) has started a study on the official dispute between the two groups of the ruling CPN (Maoist). The commission has started the study while the writ petition against the dissolution of the House of Representatives is being heard in the Supreme Court.
The commission has given the responsibility of resolving the disputes of the CPN (Maoist) to the newly appointed Election Commissioner Ram Prasad Bhandari. Spokesperson of the commission Raj Kumar Shrestha informed Makalu Khabar that he has been given the responsibility to look after the work related to political parties and party division.
Bhandari, who is also a senior advocate, is considered close to the CPN-Oli group. “Because of his legal background, he has been given legal responsibilities,” Shrestha said. “It should be understood as a regular process.”
The commission has stated that necessary study has been started for resolving the Bhandari CPN (Maoist) dispute. The CPN-Prachanda-Nepal faction has submitted a 20-page letter to the commission on Magh 20, claiming its legitimacy as per Article 44 of the Political Parties Act.
