Election Commission discussing with both groups of CPN (Maoist)
Kathmandu. The Election Commission is holding discussions with both the groups of the CPN (Maoist). The commission has written separate letters to both the groups and called them to the office for discussion.
According to the spokesperson of the project, Raj Kumar Shrestha, the chairpersons of both the groups themselves or five official persons nominated by them were called at 11:30 am. Both sides will discuss the election purpose and process. “The government has already announced the election,” Shrestha said. “Discussions are underway to publish information on party registration for election purposes and to inform the commission about the preparations it has made so far.”
The party has said that it will start the party registration process soon after the government fixes the date of the upcoming Baisakh 17 and 27 elections. Earlier, the Election Commission had rejected the changes made by the two factions of the CPN (Maoist) in different ways.
The commission was not satisfied with the answers given by both the parties on the basis of the party’s constitution. Information has been sent to both the parties that the commission has rejected the request of both the parties for manipulation of details as per Article 51 of the Political Parties Act.
