Kathmandu. The government has repealed the ‘Scientific Forest Management Procedure, 2071’.


Minister for Forest and Environment Prem Bahadur Ale said that the ‘Scientific Forest Management Procedure, 2071’ has been repealed to prevent illegal logging in the name of scientific forest. Minister Ale held a press conference on Wednesday and said that the meeting of the Council of Ministers on Magh 11 had rejected the scientific forest management program.


He informed that the decision passed by the Council of Ministers will be published in the Gazette soon. Minister Ale also said that the ministry is preparing an action plan so that no green forest will be destroyed under sustainable forest management after the procedure is scrapped. He also said that after the scrapping of the scientific forest program, the government is preparing to open the timber that has been cut down in managed forests, community forests and partnership forests in accordance with the prevailing law.


He also clarified that those involved in illegal logging, sale, distribution and distribution would be monitored through the Provincial Forest Directorate and a report would be submitted to the Ministry of Industry, Tourism, Forest and Environment.

Similarly, Minister Ale said that he would not give permission to cut down trees until the budget for the construction of Nijgadh International Airport is confirmed. He said that the process would be taken forward by the Ministry of Forests only after the budget for the construction of the airport is confirmed.
