Corona vaccination campaign started in Nepal

Kathmandu. A nationwide vaccination campaign has been launched against Covid-19. Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli inaugurated the vaccination campaign from his official residence in Baluwatar through a virtual program.


The message of President Bidhyadevi Bhandari was read out at the inauguration ceremony of the campaign. Health Minister Hridayesh Tripathi informed that 12,000 people will be vaccinated on the first day. The first phase of the campaign will be completed within 10 days. Vaccination has been started from around 120 vaccination centers in 66 districts across the country.


In the first phase, the government is vaccinating more than 430,000 people, including health workers, security personnel, ambulance and ambulance drivers, and sanitation workers. The first phase of vaccination called ‘Covishield’ has been started with the grant provided by the Government of India.

The first vaccine administered by Dr.Rajbhandari

The first vaccine against COVID-19 in Nepal has been administered by Dr. Sagar Rajbhandari, Director of Shukraraj Tropical and Communicable Diseases Hospital. With him, Dr. Anup Bastola and Dr. Runa Jha have also been vaccinated against corona.


Dr.Rajbhandari said ‘I am Happy after vaccination’. “It’s like an influenza vaccine, so don’t be afraid,” he said. Infectious Diseases was operated as the first covid hospital in Nepal.
