Two contempt of court cases registered against PM Oli
Kathmandu. Contempt of court cases have been registered against Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.
The Supreme Court has stated that the contempt cases filed separately by senior advocate Kumar Sharma Acharya and advocate Kanchan Krishna Neupane have been registered. Although Acharya filed the case in the Supreme Court last Sunday and Neupane on Monday, the apex administration only filed the case on Tuesday, registered.
In the case, it has been alleged that Prime Minister Oli made ‘condemnatory remarks’ on the issue of senior advocate Krishna Prasad Bhandari debating in the Supreme Court against the dissolution of the parliament at a program held at Karki Banquet Thapathali in Kathmandu on Magh 9. In the program, the Prime Minister had said, there is widespread opposition to Prime Minister Oli’s remarks. Four presidents of the Nepal Bar Association have issued a statement in this regard.
Senior Advocate Acharya has demanded the maximum punishment against Prime Minister Oli as per Article 17 of the Judicial Council Act 2073 BS for contempt of court by using the word ‘tamasa’ and ‘baje’ to the debating lawyer in the Supreme Court on the issue of dissolution of the House of Representatives.
Similarly, Advocate Neupane has also accused the Prime Minister of commenting on the issue under consideration and using vulgar and indecent language to the advocates.
