The need for struggle increased
Kathmandu. The Prachanda-Nepal group of the CPN (Maoist) has protested against the police repression during the march pass of the civil movement in Baluwatar.
The group protested against the arrest of a civic leader who was protesting in Baluwatar on Monday against the dissolution of the House of Representatives. “Our party, the Communist Party of Nepal (CPN-M), strongly condemns the government’s brutal crackdown on peaceful protests,” said a statement signed by CPN-M spokesperson Narayan Kaji Shrestha, who is also the coordinator of the Central Struggle Committee for the movement.
The group is of the view that the undemocratic and authoritarian character of the government has been exposed due to the repression in the struggle for the defense of the constitution and democracy. It further writes, ‘The historic role of Nepali civil society in the establishment of democracy and constitution-making has been unforgettable. The extreme undemocratic and authoritarian character of the government has been exposed by the brutal repression of the three civil society leaders on Monday in the struggle for the defense of the constitution and democracy.
It is mentioned in the press release that the need and justification of the struggle has increased due to this. The statement also wished health benefits to the protesters injured in the police crackdown.
