Minister for Drinking Water Thapa inspects Melamchi tunnel

Kathmandu. Minister for Drinking Water Manichandra Thapa has inspected the tunnel of Sundarijal area under Melamchi Drinking Water Project.

Minister Thapa on Sunday inspected the physical infrastructure and tunnels under construction in the Sundarijal area under the Melamchi Drinking Water Project. Observing, Minister Thapa said that the work of the tunnel was satisfactory. Talking to reporters after the observation, Minister Thapa said that he felt that the tunnel construction work was technically moving towards success.

Tiresh Prasad Khatri, executive director of the Melamchi Drinking Water Development Committee, said that although the work of the tunnel has been completed, an expert group has inspected it before the test and some improvement needs to be done for the sustainability of the tunnel.

Executive Director Khatri also said that the work of repairing the tunnel will be completed in three weeks and testing work will be started from the first week of March.
