Prachanda-Nepal group expelling Oli from the party
Kathmandu. A standing committee meeting of the Prachanda-Nepal group of the divided CPN (Maoist) is being held. Demonstrating their strength in Kathmandu on Friday against the dissolution of the House of Representatives, the group called a meeting to discuss further agitation programs.
Spokesperson Narayan Kaji Shrestha informed that the meeting was convened at the party office, Parisdanda at 12:30 pm. Earlier on Saturday, there was a general discussion among the standing committee members at the party’s central office in Parisdanda on the review of the party’s protest rally on August 26 and the upcoming program. Today’s meeting will decide on a new program with additional agenda. Spokesperson Shrestha said that a decision will be taken to remove the state office bearers of the Oli group and adjust their group.
The meeting will also discuss the issue as Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has not been asked for clarification on the allegation of acting against the party’s interests. Earlier, a letter of explanation was sent to Prime Minister Oli on January 19. However, three days after the letter of explanation was sent to Baluwatar, the group is preparing to expel Oli from the party after today’s meeting.
The letter sought clarification on the issue, saying, “Why don’t you take further action as you have acted against the constitution?” “There is no response to the explanation. This is also the agenda of the meeting,” said Shrestha. “We will know about the eviction after the decision of the meeting.”
Earlier, Chairman Madhav Kumar Nepal had given information in a public program that action was being taken against Oli. The Prachanda-Nepal group removed Oli from the post and nominated Madhav Kumar Nepal.
