The leadership of Kathmandu University is in the second generation
Kathmandu. Vice Chancellor of Kathmandu University (KU) Pvt. Bhola Thapa has been appointed. On the basis of the recommendation of the committee formed under the convenership of the Vice Chancellor of the University and Minister of Education Krishna Gopal Shrestha, the Chancellor and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli addressed the gathering. Hemraj Kafle, information chief and spokesperson of the university, informed Makalu Khabar that the information about the appointment of Thapa as the new Chancellor has come to the university but a formal letter is yet to be received.
The committee formed by the university to select the vice-chancellor is the first to appoint the current vice-chancellor Pvt. Ramkantha Makju, Thapa at number two and Pvt. The name of Balachandra Luitel was recommended.
A selection committee was formed with the chairperson of the conservation committee and the founding vice-chancellor as members of the selection committee. This time, the committee had invited applications for the post of Vice-Chancellor. Although professors from other universities had also applied to become vice-chancellors, three professors from Kathmandu University were recommended. The current Vice Chancellor Pvt. Dr. Spokesperson Kafle said that Makzou’s tenure is till Wednesday.
Thapa has become the third Vice Chancellor of Kathmandu University. Earlier, the founding Vice Chancellor Pvt. Suresh Raj Sharma has completed six terms while Makju is completing his second term from Wednesday.
With the appointment of Thapa as the Vice Chancellor, the leadership of the university has been handed over from the founding generation to the second generation.
Thapa, a former registrar of the university and former dean of the School of Engineering, has been associated with the university since 1994, when it started its engineering faculty.
