Corona vaccine is free to Nepalis in South Korea
Seoul The South Korean government will provide the corona vaccine free of charge to all locals and foreigners living in South Korea. Jung Eun-kyung, head of South Korea’s Department of Disease Control and Prevention, told a news conference on Monday that the vaccine against Covid-19 would be provided free of charge to all locals and foreigners living in Korea.
Earlier, it was said that the vaccine would be provided free of cost only to its indigenous citizens, but a new decision has been taken to provide the vaccine free of cost to foreigners as well. In addition, more than 50,000 Nepalis here will be able to get the vaccine free of charge.
The first priority of the vaccination, which is said to be conducted from next month, will be the health workers and volunteers who will be at the forefront. Then, according to the priority, it will be distributed to all including the elderly, children, the disabled and the handicapped. However, the Korean government is silent on whether to provide the vaccine free of charge to foreigners living illegally and without health insurance. The number of illegal immigrants in Korea is also expected to be high.
A new species of corona has recently been confirmed in South Korea and the infection has spread rapidly. Over the past few weeks, more than a thousand new infections have been added daily, but this week the number of daily infections has dropped below 400. The government has banned more than four people from gathering in public places, keeping social distance to prevent the spread of the infection. -Rassus
