Kathmandu. Night tourist bus service has been started from Kathmandu to Pokhara. Deshdarshan Bus Service Company has started night tourist bus service from Monday with the objective of promoting Nepal’s internal tourism.

The Kathmandu-Pokhara night bus service has been started from Monday night to rehabilitate the tourism sector which has been hampered due to the infection of Covid-19. The tourist bus from Boudha in Kathmandu will leave at 6.30 pm and from Pokhara will leave for Kathmandu only at 7.30 pm. Pralika Executive Director Shrikant Acharya informed that 16 buses were purchased with an investment of Rs. 120 million and services were provided to the domestic and foreign tourists with state-of-the-art facilities.

He said that day and night buses have been operated targeting the main tourist destinations. The company has already operated Kathmandu-Janakpur, Kathmandu-Sunauli and Kathmandu-Lumbini night tourist buses.

Arrangements have been made for internal and external tourists to measure their body temperature before boarding the bus, make it mandatory for drivers, co-drivers and passengers to wear masks, and sanitize the bus, said Prahlika Bazaar Manager Prahlad Lohani. He said that night bus tickets can be obtained through the website of Deshdarshan Bus Service, Net Pay, Luxurious Travels and Esewa.

Though the government started preparations by declaring 2020 as the year of Nepal visit, it was postponed due to the increasing infection of Kovid-19. At present, about 100 tourist buses are providing day and night bus service from Kathmandu targeting the main tourist destination. At present, tourist buses are plying from Pokhara’s Sohrakhutte Road to Pokhara, Chitwan, Lumbini and Janakpur. – Rasas
