Kathmandu. The World Health Organization (WHO) has urged the world’s richest nations not to cross the line to get the Covid-19 vaccine for themselves. The head of the WHO, Tedros Edhanom Gehbarius, urged me not to cross the line, saying that the earlier style would be detrimental to myself.

He warned that doing so would increase the cost of vaccination and hoarding. Stating that the world is facing an extreme moral crisis due to unequal distribution of vaccines, he said that all countries should be fully committed to the Covax campaign, an international vaccine supply network. It is said that the supply of vaccine under Covax will start from next month.

He said it was inappropriate for young and healthy people in rich countries to be vaccinated before health workers in poor countries and at-risk communities. Addressing the WHO executive committee on Monday, he said, “I have to say something honest – the world has reached a moral failure deal, and the people of the world’s poorest countries will have to pay the price for their lives and livelihoods.”

Referring to his own style of vaccinating, he said, “Ultimately, such actions will only prolong the epidemic.” At the same time, the ban on epidemics and human and economic suffering will be prolonged, ”he said.

So far India, China, Russia, USA, UK and some multinational teams have developed vaccines. Everyone has given priority to vaccinating their own population. “My main challenge is to start vaccinating all countries before the upcoming World Health Day on April 7,” he said. That can raise hopes against epidemics and inequality, “said Dr. Tedros.

So far, 180 countries have joined the Caucasus. The network is supported by the WHO and some international bodies to bring countries together and bargain with pharmaceutical companies. Under this, donors will pay for vaccinations for 92 low- and middle-income countries. –BBC
