Bilbao champions defeats Barcelona
Kathmandu. Athletic Bilbao has won the Spanish Supercopa title. Athletic Bilbao beat Barcelona 3-2 in the final last night to win the Supercopa title.
Oscar de Marcos, Acier Villalibre and Inaki Williams scored a goal each in Athletic’s victory. Both goals for Barcelona were scored by Anthony Griezmann.
The game was played in extra time after both teams scored 2-2 in the allotted 90 minutes. The game went into extra time after Athletic equalized in the 90th minute. Then in the 93rd minute of the game, Athletic took the lead by scoring a goal.
Barcelona’s Lionel Messi received a red card in the 121st minute of the game. Messi has received his first red card in Barcelona’s career. Messi, who has played 753 games for Barcelona, has received a red card for the first time.
Athletic Bilbao has also won the Supercopa for the third time. Bilbao had previously won the Super Copa in 1984 and 2015. Barcelona have won the Supercopa title 13 times, while Real Madrid have won it 11 times.
Last season’s La Liga champions, La Liga runners-up and last season’s Copa del Rey finalists play four teams in the Spanish Supercopa.
